UP Govt to move High Court against Ansari’s acquittal

LUCKNOW:The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has decided to challenge the Delhi CBI special court order acquitting BSP MLA Mukhtar Ansari, his BSP MP brother Afzaal Ansari and others in the 2005 murder of BJP MLA Krishnanan Rai and six others.

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has decided to challenge the Delhi CBI special court order acquitting BSP MLA Mukhtar Ansari, his BSP MP brother Afzaal Ansari and others in the 2005 murder of BJP MLA Krishnanan Rai and six others.

BJP MLA from Mohammadabad in Ghazipur, Krishnanan Rai’s cavalcade was attacked on November 29, 2005. Around 400 rounds were fired using an AK 47 rifle, killing the MLA on the spot, along with his six associates.

According to a state government spokesperson, the CM has taken cognisance of the CBI verdict. He said the state government would examine the judgment and file an appeal in the high court. Rai’s wife and sitting BJP MLA from Mohammadabad Alka Rai has also hinted at moving the HC challenging the CBI verdict.
