Pukhrayan (UP): The death toll in the Indore-Patna Express derailment climbed to 150 on Tuesday, making it the deadliest train accident in the last 17 years with four more persons succumbing to injuries.

Train services were resumed on the affected section, where 14 coaches were derailed early on November 20, disrupting traffic on the route.

The Sunday derailment of the train has become the deadliest rail accident since August 2, 1999 when 290 persons were killed after two trains collided at Gaisal in Assam.

So far, 145 bodies have been identified; the condition of six passengers is serious.

Meanwhile, as a fallout of the  mishap, the Railways has transferred the Divisional Railway Manager (Jhansi Division) and placed five senior officials on suspension. PTI
