Telangana caretaker Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Wednesday filed nomination from his sitting constituency Gajwel in Siddipet district.

A strong believer in astrology, KCR filed his nomination after paying obeisance at the Konaipalli Venkateswara Swamy temple accompanied by his nephew and caretaker irrigation minister T Harish Rao, ruling out speculation that the duo had fallen apart.

Meanwhile, the Congress released its second list of 10 and faced stiff resistance from those who could not secure a seat, so much so that the party had to deploy private bouncers to keep the angry candidates under check. The Congress had on Tuesday released a list of 65 names in the first list.

Leaders of Backward Class that forms over 50 per cent of the state’s population has expressed displeasure over the Congress-led alliance of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and CPI not giving adequate representation to the BCs.

Former MLA and BC community leader from TDP R Krishnaiah has called for a statewide bandh on November 17 to force parties to reconsider giving more seats to the BCs.

From within the Congress, Telangana president A Revanth Reddy and Nalgonda MLA and former minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy reportedly did not mince any words in expressing anger over leaders in Delhi deciding to give tickets to leaders with little mass support.
