Suspected ISIS terror module busted in Hyderabad, 11 detained

HYDERABAD: In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday busted a suspected ISIS terror module and detained 11 persons for questioning in Hyderabad.

In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday busted a suspected ISIS terror module and detained 11 persons for questioning in Hyderabad.

The terror module was busted after the NIA conducted searches at 10 locations in the city on Wednesday morning.

NIA sources said the suspects were allegedly planning to carry out terror strikes in the country and were in touch with their handlers in Syria and Iraq.

Chemical, nails and other materials used for making explosives, including IEDs, two 9mm pistols, target practicing air guns and currency worth Rs 15 lakh were seized from the suspects during the raid. NIA official also recovered 25 mobile phones and laptops from them.

The suspects included five members against whom the NIA had registered an FIR on June 22 relating to a case involving an evolving fundamentalist terrorist group affiliated with the ISIS.

The NIA gave the names of those arrested as Mohd Elias Yazdani of Amannagar; Mohd Ibrahim of Amannagar; Habib Mohd of Barkas; Mohd Irfan, alias Yaqais, of Chattar Bazaar; and Abdullah Bin Ahmed Almoudi, alias Fahad, of Charminar.
