GURGAON: A top executive of Encyclopedia Britannica is suspected to have committed suicide by jumping from the 19th floor of a building in DLF Phase-III, police said on Monday.

A top executive of Encyclopedia Britannica is suspected to have committed suicide by jumping from the 19th floor of a building in DLF Phase-III, police said on Monday.

Vineet Whig, the 47-year-old COO of Britannica, committed suicide on Sunday. A note found in his pocket said he was he was tired of his life and decided to end it, Hawa Singh, PRO, Gurgaon Police, said.

Whig lived in Block-D of DLF Belvedere Park with his wife, two sons, a daughter and his father, who had heart attack after he heard of his son's death. 

According to the family, Whig went for his morning walk on Sunday but did not return home, which the family did not find unusual.

The building's sweepers found Whig's body in a ventilation shaft when they went to clean it late in the morning.

Whig worked with IT giant Wipro before joining Britannica.

"CCTV footage is being examined to verify the details and ascertain the sequence of events," Singh added. — PTI
