The monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha started on a noisy note on Thursday as elected representatives of the Samajwadi Party (SP) protested against the worsening law and order situation, forcing the Chairperson of the Vidhan Parishad to adjourn the Upper House till Friday.

Staging a dharna outside the Vidhan Sabha building, SP members of both Houses raised slogans drawing attention to the Sambhal killing of policemen and Sonbhadra massacre of tribals as well as lodging of cases of land encroachment against senior SP leader and Rampur MP Mohd Azam Khan.

After observing a two-minute silence as tribute to the departed members of the Upper House, the SP members started raising slogans against the law and order situation.

Amid chaos, Vidhan Parishad Chairperson Ramesh Yadav adjourned the House till Friday morning. The Vidhan Sabha was also adjourned after paying tributes to sitting Agra MLA Jagan Prasad Garg.
