Singer Sapna Choudhary denies joining Cong; party flashes her membership form

NEW DELHI: Congress was in for major embarrassment on Sunday as actor singer from Haryana Sapna Choudhary said to a section of television channels that she had not joined the Congress and won’t campaign for any party.

Congress was in for major embarrassment on Sunday as actor singer from Haryana Sapna Choudhary said to a section of television channels that she had not joined the Congress and won’t campaign for any party.

Choudhary had filled her membership form for Uttar Pradesh Congress on Saturday following which state Congress President Raj Babbar tweeted a message welcoming Sapna into the Congress family. Babbar also posted a photo of Sapna with AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

“The photos Congress used are old. I haven’t joined Congress,” Choudhary said despite Babbar’s official tweet on her joining.

Congress was quick to produce proof of Choudhary having joined the ranks and flashed a UP Congress membership form she filled on Saturday.

Choudhary is learnt to be upset with the Congress for announcing Mahesh Pathak as the party candidate for Lok Sabha poll from Mathura opposite BJP member Hema Malini.

She is said to have been keen to contest herself.
