Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Wednesday amid sloganeering by the Congress, Shiv Sena, Telegu Desam Party (TDP) and the AIADMK who rushed for the Well of the House protesting on separate issues.
Congress demanded a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) on the allegations surrounding the purchase of Rafale fighter jets.
Shiv Sena was demanding construction of a Ram mandir while the AIADMK protested Mekedatu dam across the Cauvery.
The TDP had an issue with and demanding more rights for Andhra Pradesh.
Rajya Sabha was similarly adjourned twice—once till noon and the second time till after lunch—after disruptions by AIADMK, and rival Dravida Munnetra Kazagham, as well as leaders of Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India (Marxist) resulted in washout of the entire Zero Hour session.
Lawmakers trooped into the Well, with AIADMK members holding placards that asked the central government to save farmers of the Cauvery delta region.
Other members were protesting against Chairman Venkaiah Naidu disallowing notices they had submitted for discussion on issues. Naidu said he would allow discussions under different provisions, which had no effect on the members.
“I am ready to allow discussions on all issues,” Naidu said.
