Self-styled godman held

Lucknow: A 64-year-old self-styled godman and his disciples were arrested from Barabanki for sexually exploiting his women disciples in the name of getting Goddess Durga to bless them with a male progeny. Baba Ram Shankar Tiwari, alias Parmanand Maharaj, was arrested along with his 49-year-old aide Arvind Pathak. TNS

All-women naval mission

Indian Naval Sailing Vessel Mhadei (INSV Mhadei) sailed from Goa with an all-women crew on a voyage to Port Louis, Mauritius on Tuesday. The boat is being skippered by Lt Cdr Vartika Joshi. This will be the first open-ocean voyage of the Navy's all-women crew of Mhadei, who are currently training to undertake a circumnavigation of the globe in 2017. TNS
