SC judge recuses from Ajay Chautala’s bail plea hearing

INLD leader Ajay Singh Chautala's case was not taken up for hearing by the Supreme Court today as Justice UU Lalit opted out of the case.

Justice Lalit said he was recusing as he had been counsel for some of the accused in the case.

The case pertains to the scam in the recruitment of about 3,000 teachers in Haryana in 1999-2000 when OP Chautala's was the Chief Minister of the state.

Both Ajay Singh and his father OP Chautala have been sentenced to 10 years in the case.

Ajay Singh has challenged his conviction in the SC. More than 50 persons have been convicted in the case.
