In a bid to make recruitment process transparent, the Indian Railways will, for the first time, launch an online recruitment examination for 3,273 vacancies of senior section engineers and junior engineers.
According to a statement issued by the Railway Ministry, the online test has been in process since August 26 and would continue till September 4. It is being organised by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) on a pan-India basis.
The examination is being conducted in 242 cities across India, including far-off locations in North East and Jammu and Kashmir.
The statement said: “Applications for this examination were also called online. Nearly 18 lakh candidates have applied for this mega online (computer-based) examination. Sharp increase in vacancy-to-candidate ratio indicates wide popularity and acceptance of online mode.”
The new format is aimed at enhancing objectivity, transparency and credibility of the RRB exams.
The online system is user friendly and fool-proof, taking care of all checks and balances, the statement said.
The system allows the candidate to navigate from one question to another with utmost ease and can also be read/attempted in the respective regional languages, the statement added.
