A wrong medical report about Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh suffering from swine flu (H1N1) made him fly to Delhi’s Apollo hospital on Sunday night.

On a slight sneezing and cold following a change in the weather, Sawai Man Singh Hospital on Sunday evening detected that Singh was suffering from H1N1 virus.

The Governor who is used to getting his health check-up in Delhi rushed to Apollo hospital there and his H1N1 test was found negative, Raj Bhawan PRO Lokesh Chandra Sharma said on Monday.

“The Governor is not suffering from swine flu, and got a minor check-up and treatment for seasonal disease. He will go to Aligarh from Delhi on Tuesday, and attend the marriage of his granddaughter Poornima Singh,” the PRO said.

Meanwhile, the Governor told the state government to do a high-level probe into the slackness of the medical and health department at SMS hospital.

Recently, BJP MLA Amrita Meghwal was found H1N1-positive by the Assembly’s clinic while she was attending the session, and at least 10 others sitting nearby were also screened but they were found negative.

Another BJP MLA Narpat Singh Rajvi recovered from H1N1, while CM's Media Advisor Mahendra Bhardwaj though recovered from the disease but was suffering from lung infection and was hospitalised in cottage ward of SMS hospital during Holi season.

Last year, BJP MLA Kirti Kumari and 20-point vice-chairman (cabinet rank) Digamber Singh died of the disease.

Of 10,978 samples tested for swine flu, 1,090 people were detected positive, and of which 97 have succumbed to the illness in the state since January 1. Jaipur has reported maximum 30 deaths as of now.
