New Delhi, May 5

Almost a month after former Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh had backed the continuation of Sonia Gandhi as the Congress chief, he today reaffirmed his faith in Rahul Gandhi saying “one day Rahul will lead the party”.

Speaking to the media outside the Parliament Capt Amarinder Singh, an MP from Amritsar, said he never opposed the elevation of Rahul Gandhi as the Congress president.

Inside the House, the Congress vice-president and Amarinder Singh were also seen chit chatting.

Gandhi, who has been in a combative mood since his returned from a 53-day sabbatical, even read a document that the Capt was carrying to the House.

The exchange occurred during Zero Hour when the MPs of the Telegana Rashtriya Samiti were raising the matter of having a High Court in Telegana.

The document was one of the lists Amarinder Singh was carrying to narrate the cases of “deteriorating law and order problems” in Punjab.

In April, Singh had suggested that Sonia Gandhi must continue as the Congress chief.
