Pvt varsity Chancellor arrested on rape charge

Bengaluru, February 6

The founder-Director and Chancellor of a private university has been arrested for allegedly raping his 33-year-old niece.

“Madhukar Angur of Alliance University was arrested on Friday night on the complaint of the victim’s mother (Angur’s sister),” DCP (Southeast) MB Boraingaiah said today. The complainant alleged that Angur had promised to marry her daughter as they were in a relationship for some time. However, he reportedly backed out, sending the woman into depression.

Last year, Angur had lodged a complaint accusing his brother, sister, nephew and others of hatching a conspiracy to dethrone him from the post. — TNS
