Patna, June 13

Senior BJP leader Sushil Modi today alleged that Hema Yadav, fifth daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, had acquired a “benami” plot worth Rs 62.10 lakh as a “gift” from a grade-four employee of the railways, a charge denied by the RJD.

Hridayanand Choudhary is currently posted as a peon at Coaching Complex Store at the Rajendra Nagar railway station. He was appointed in the railways in 2005 when Lalu Prasad was the Railway Minister.

Modi alleged that Hridayanand had even paid Rs 6.28 lakh for stamp duty and registration while gifting the land to Hema.

The BJP leader referred to his June 10 allegation that one Lalan Choudhary, whose name figured on the BPL list, too had “gifted” his land in Patna worth Rs 62 lakh to Hema.

Lalan hails from Siwan and Hridayanand is from Gopalganj district. Modi said it was “ironical” that both Lalan and Hridayanand had purchased land for Rs 4.21 lakh on the same day, March 29, 2008, from two sons of one Devki Rai and “gifted” them to Hema on February 13, 2014.

The two plots were worth Rs 1.24 crore in 2014 and Rs 5 crore at present, he alleged.

In the past two and a half months, Modi has exposed Lalu’s “benami” property worth over Rs 1,000 crore. Lalu’s elder daughter and Rajya Sabha member Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar are under the income tax radar failing twice to appear before it.

“The way valuable property was gifted to Lalu’s family was like a surrogate mother (Lalu’s servant) was keeping a child in her womb before it was given to the real mother,” Modi said.
