Not much rain in Punjab, Haryana till Sept 4: Met

After wreaking havoc over the past few days, not much rains are expected over the northwest, including Punjab, Haryana and Himachal, till around September 4, the Met department has said.

Barring some central, northeastern and east-coast regions, rest of country is likely to experience below normal rain in the coming days, the Met said in its weekly forecast. Excess rains are likely over Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, adjoining south Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, coastal Karnataka, Tripura and Mizoram. Normal rains can be expected over east Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh. The rest of the country is likely to get below normal rains in the week till August 28, the Met said.

In the following week (between August 29 and September 4), excess rainfall is likely over Konkan and Goa, east MP, Bihar and Northeastern states. Normal rainfall can be expected over UP, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, west MP, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, central Maharashtra, coastal Karnataka and Kerala.  — TNS
