Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is on the first phase of his ‘Nishchay Yatra’ in East Champaran today, reckoned benefits after liquor prohibition was imposed, saying: “At least 56% crime trajectory has been reduced in seven months as compared to the same period in the past.”

Addressing ‘Chetna Sabha’ as part of the yatra in Motihari, Nitish said: “The crime needle shows the downward trend between April 1 and October 31 this year. The crime records have witnessed 56% decline in the past seven months. The cases of murder have reduced up to 26%, while road accidents have declined up to 21%.” He said the sale of milk specially produced by Sudha had increased up to 11% after the blanket ban on liquor. — TNS
