NITI Aayog’s member to get WHO prize

New Delhi: In a first for an Indian, NITI Aayog member Vinod Paul has been chosen to receive the World Health Organisation’s prestigious Ihsan Dogramaci Family Health Foundation Prize for his services in the field of family health, official sources said on Tuesday.

Indian-origin doc helps deliver baby at 35k ft 

New York: An off-duty Indian-origin doctor, Dr Sij Hemal, had an “oh boy” story when he helped deliver a baby boy, Jake, while on a trans-Atlantic flight from Paris to New York at 35,000 feet on December 17. Dr Hemal, 27, is a second-year urology resident at Cleveland Clinic’s Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute. PTI

Rlys sends junior staff to pleasure trip abroad 

New Delhi: The Railways’ first non-working foreign tour is under way — not for senior officers, but for gangmen, trackmen and other non-gazetted employees. In a first for the public transporter, 100 workers of South Central Railway flew to Singapore and Malaysia for a six-day trip on January 28. While 25% tour expenses are being borne by the employees, the rest is from the Staff Benefit Fund. PTI
