The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday conducted raids across eight locations in five states in connection with Falah-i-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF) terror funding case.

The fresh searches follow the arrest of 43-year-old accused Mohammad Hussain Molani from Sikar in Rajasthan on Monday.

Following up on the interrogation leads, the agency carried out searches across the country today in Gonda (UP), Sikar and Jaipur (Rajasthan), Delhi, Valsad and  Surat (Gujarat) and Kasargod (Kerala). However no arrests were made today.

According to officials, during the raids 26 SIM cards, including three foreign ones, 23 mobile phones, five memory cards, one compact disc, five hard discs, one pen drive, one DVR and one CPU have been seized.

Recoveries also include eight passport/foreign cards, nine debit cards, one laptop, approximately two kilos of gold jewellery, Rs 21 lakh in cash and allegedly various “incriminating documents” including some with leads to Dubai.

The FIF terror funding case was registered on July 2 last year under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

“As per the FIR, some Delhi-based individuals were receiving funds from FIF operatives based abroad and were using the same to further the terror activities,” said officials.

Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation based in Lahore was established by Hafiz Saeed’s Jamat-ud-Dawa, a “charity front” of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

So far four arrests have been made in the case. “The investigation is continuing to unearth the larger conspiracy, to collect evidence and to arrest the other accused persons,” said the NIA.
