India on Thursday asked Pakistan to provide consular access to two of its nationals whose arrest was announced a few days back and sought their repatriation without any harm.

India maintains that the two had crossed over into Pakistan some time back and hopes that the recent announcement of the arrests is not part of its propaganda.

The arrest of the two Indians — Prashant Vaindam and Dhari Lal — was reported in Pakistan to India’s surprise which had earlier tried to find out their whereabouts but to no avail.

Prashant has been missing from Hyderabad since 2017 after he attempted to cross borders without documents in pursuit of a love affair. The motivation for Dhari Lal, who is said to be from Madhya Pradesh, to enter Pakistan is not known.

The MEA hoped that the arrested Indians don’t become victims of Pakistani propaganda.
