New Delhi, January 23

BJP chief Amit Shah has not recovered fully from swine flu and was forced to cut short his West Bengal tour on Tuesday to fly back to Delhi after the Malda rally.

He was to address four more rallies at Jhargram, Nadia and South 24 Parganas districts.

Sources say he was running a high temperature even as he addressed the public at Malda.
Shah was admitted to the AIIMS in Delhi last week after being detected with swine flu. While he was discharged later, it appears he is yet to recover fully.
Union minister Smriti Irani and other senior leaders from the state have replaced him at the remaining rallies.

The BJP has identified West Bengal as a priority state and Shah has set a target of 22 seats in the general election from there. Following the opposition show of strength that saw top opposition leaders from across the country register their presence, both Shah and the Prime Minister are scheduled to address public meetings in the state over the coming few weeks.

Narendra Modi will address three rallies in West Bengal this month--on January 28 either in Siliguri or in Jalpaiguri and then at Thakurnagar and Asansol.
