The Narendra Modi government completes two years in office to the day. And in keeping with Prime Minister’s plan reflecting a synergy between the BJP and its government at the Centre, a grand outreach campaign has been set in motion.

On the eve of the two-year mark, the BJP top leadership and select members of the Union Council of Ministers today conducted a media programme aimed at conveying the message that the government has been doing things differently and is  keen to project its all-round accomplishments, largely focused on targeted and efficacious delivery of services while taking the country’s economy forward.

With BJP president, Amit Shah, and general secretary in-charge of organisation Ram Lal, four Union Ministers Arun Jaitley, Manohar Parrikar, Suresh Prabhu and Nirmala Sitharaman were at a function organised at Ashoka Hotel where the Commerce Minister (Sitharaman) held a slide show to highlight the steps taken by the  Modi government towards its  commitment to empower the poor and women, improve the farm sector, address the digital divide and bring the government closer to the people through technology, youth-led development and ushering in a new governance paradigm. Citing the UNCTAD World Investment Report, it said India had jumped six places to now be at the 9th place, while seeing the highest-ever growth in the FDI last fiscal with US $362 billion foreign exchange reserves, pushing aggressively on the ease of doing business and raising revenues through transparent auctions in coal, spectrum, minerals and FM radio channels.

The broad-brush strokes were meant to convey the government’s focus in improving the lot of the people while pushing to maintain a steady over 7.5 per cent growth rate, keeping inflation under 5 per cent and creating infrastructure that would lead to greater employment and unleash an entrepreneurial spirit backed by appropriate policies and financial support.

And in keeping with the government’s accent to showcase achievements not  just on a grand scale, but to expand and reach out the nook and cranny of the country, the Prime Minister himself will lead the campaign with a public meeting at Saharanpur tomorrow and four in each zone. That is just the beginning of a prolonged exercise spread over several days in which Union Council of Ministers will travel to different parts of the country, spreading awareness on the work done by the Modi government during the past two years.
