Naidu meets Mamata, announces postponement of Thursday''s Oppn parties meet

The proposed meeting of opposition parties on November 22 to discuss formation of a joint front against BJP-led NDA has been postponed, TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said on Monday.

A fresh date for the meeting will be announced very soon, Naidu said meeting her West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata.

Naidu met Mamata Banerjee to invite her to join the proposed non-BJP front.

Institutions like CBI, ED, Income Tax dept, RBI and CAG are under "severe pressure", said Naidu flanked by Mamata Banerjee.

The meeting, to be attended by Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Chandrababu Naidu and leaders of other parties, was also expected to discuss a common programme for the proposed front.

Naidu, who has taken the lead in uniting the opposition parties has met several leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, former Prime Minister H.D. Devegowda, DMK chief M.K. Stalin, Aam Admi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, among others. — Agencies
