Lucknow, July 4

Despite court orders, Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav today refused to give voice sample in connection with the 2015 case of “threatening” senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur over the phone.

Following appointment, Investigating Officer Avinash Mishra, CO Hazratganj, reached Mulayam’s residence to deliver a letter requesting the SP leader to give his consent for taking voice sample. However, no one has received the letter at Mulayam’s residence.

Earlier, a similar letter was handed over to Thakur at his residence. The consent of both parties for taking voice sample is crucial for disposing the case.

On July 1, the Lucknow chief judicial magistrate had permitted the Lucknow Police to obtain voice samples of both for examination by the State Forensic Science Laboratory.

In July 2015, the 1992-batch IPS officer Thakur had lodged a complaint against Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly threatening him over the phone at the Hazratganj police station.

In the 2 minute 10 second ‘conversation between the IPS officer and the SP leader’, Mulayam had allegedly asked Thakur to ‘mend his ways’ or face a repeat of an incident in 2006 when he was reportedly assaulted by a party MLA and his supporters.
