Man complains about ''vulgar'' ads on IRCTC app; their reply leaves Twitter in splits

The Indian Railways on Wednesday started trending on Twitter after it posted an “epic reply” to a user who complained about seeing 'vulgar' ads on the IRCTC ticket booking app.

Anand Kumar, a Twitter user, had tagged the handle of Railway Ministry, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and the IRCTC, to complain about “obscene and vulgar ads very frequently appearing on the IRCTC ticket booking app”.

He said it was “very embarrassing and irritating” and advised them to look into the matter.

He probably didn’t see it coming as the IRCTC handle tweeted that it uses Google’s ad serving tool and such ads use cookies to target the user based on their user history and browsing behaviour.

The IRCTC handle further advised him to clean and delete all browser cookies and history to avoid such ads.

“Irctc uses Googles ad serving tool ADX for serving ads.These ads uses cookies to target the user. Based on user history and browsing  behaviour ads are shown. Pl clean and delete all browser cookies and history to avoid such ads,” it wrote on Twitter.

It started a flurry of tweets with users trolling the man and terming IRCTC’s reply as “savage”.
