Dehradun, August 5

The Uttarakhand Police have booked an Army Major, posted at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage.

The police have initiated investigation after lodging an first information report (FIR) at the Thana Cantt on the woman’s complaint.

According to police sources, the woman, a resident of Vikasnagar, claimed that Major Abhishek Chikara forced her into having a physical relationship with him twice — once at Gurugram, where the accused was earlier posted, and then in Dehardun, where he is currently posted, on the pretext of marriage.

When the girl confronted the Major, he refused to marry her and threatened her with dire consequences, stated the FIR.

Dehradun SSP  Nivedita Kukerti said the matter was being investigated and the Indian Military Academy authorities had been requested to cooperate in the investigation.
