The Maharashtra Government is working on a revamped package for land to be acquired for the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor following large-scale protests, according to sources here.

The state is looking to acquire 5,700 hectares in the first phase for the Dighi Port Industrial Area which will come up along with DMIC. Another 6,000 hectares will be acquired in the second phase.

The compensation offered by the government, Rs 18.4 lakh per acre, has been rejected by villagers. An alternative proposal whereby villagers would be paid Rs 13.5 lakh per acre besides 15% of the developed land has been rejected by villagers. “A proposal to hike compensation to 22.5% of the developed land in addition to higher FSI is under consideration,” an official said.
