New Delhi, February 28

The Left parties on Thursday gave it back to the government for calling in question Opposition parties’ criticism against it with the terrorist attack in Pulwama and subsequent developments on the pretext that the same was used by Pakistan for global audience against India.

Besides, the CPI demanded from Pakistan to forthwith arrest Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar and to hand him over to India as a proof that it’s acting against terror groups on its soil.

“The CPI rejects the criticism of Opposition parties by Ministers Arun Jaitley and Prakash Javadekar. To say that Pakistan is using the Opposition parties’ criticism is a cheap type of criticism,” the CPI said.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Wednesday election speech at Rajasthan with photographs, posters of martyred soldiers and Karnataka BJP chief BS Yedurappa’s open calculations that how many seats the BJP would win due to the airstrike, the CPI said it was ample proof of politicising the Army action.

“This is the time for uniting the nation. The government and ruling party are supposed to lead which is not being done. The BJP has to apologise to the nation for politicising sacrifices of our soldiers,” the CPI said.

CPM chief Sitaram Yechury has also criticised the government for politicisation of the Pulwama-related incidents.

As many as 21 Opposition parties in a meeting yesterday expressed anguish over the politicisation of Pulwama incident and the subsequent retaliation of fire-strike on training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammad.

BSP, SP hit out too

At a time when India is facing hostility of war and the country is in need of firm leadership, the PM, instead of concentrating on matters of national security, is trying to serve political interests by addressing BJP workers, which is ridiculous. It’s nothing but betrayal of national sentiments.— Mayawati, BSP president

Even when our pilot is in Pak custody, everything, including even the national security, is seen through the lens of public relations and votes. The BJP knows the politics of distraction, lies, branding and marketing. Those who worship power will only be consumed by it.—  Akhilesh Yadav, SP President
