The Centre on Wednesday appointed 1984-batch IPS officer Karnal Singh as full-time Director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The officer was holding the additional charge of the Director’s post in the agencies for past many months.

A government order said the Appointments Committee of Cabinet had approved the appointment of Singh as Director, ED, till August 31, 2017, i.e. the date of his superannuation.

Currently, a Special Director in the agency, which probes money laundering cases, Singh got third extension in August to hold the additional charge of the post of ED chief for six months.
