Junagadh scribe killed

Ahmedabad, August 23

Junagadh-based journalist Kishore Dave, bureau chief of Gujarati daily “Jai Hind” published from Ahmedabad and Rajkot, was murdered by some unidentified assailants in his office late last night.

The police said three assailants reached Dave’s office on the fourth floor of a commercial complex between 8.30 and 9 pm. Dave was alone in the office at that time. He was attacked with sharp-edged weapons. The incident came to light around 10 pm when some staff members entered his office. Dave is survived by his wife and two children.

Initial police investigations hinted at personal enmity as the reason for the murder, the police said. His family, however, alleged that the son of a former minister was behind the murder.
