New Delhi, December 27

India on Thursday underscored there was no change in Delhi’s approach towards Islamabad and viewed Kartarpur corridor development as one of culture and faith.

Stating that it was PM Narendra Modi who called up Imran Khan to congratulate him on being elected the Pakistan PM, sources said a meeting between External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and her Pakistan counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi was called off after the killing of policemen in J&K as it showed there was no discerning change in Islamabad’s approach towards New Delhi.

The sources said for India, the corridor was not a diplomatic move but one related to culture and faith. Earlier in the day, Pakistan described the corridor as the “high point of diplomacy” for the Imran Khan government while admitting that there was “no progress” on the contentious issues with India. — TNS
