Govt committed to AI privatisation: Puri

Noting that the government is working on a revival plan for Air India before it will be privatised, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, the airline was expected incur an operating loss of Rs 74 this year, but next year it was projected to make profit.

Noting that the government is working on a revival plan for Air India before it will be privatised, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, the airline was expected incur an operating loss of Rs 74 this year, but next year it was projected to make profit. Responding to a query in Rajya Sabha about the government's plan to privatise Air India, Puri said, “We have already announced our commitment on privatisation of the airline. But we have worked out a turnaround plan to make the airline profitable. We will be ending this year with an operating loss of Rs 74 crore. But in the next year, the airline is projected to make profit.” TNS

27 accused deported to India: Govt      

The governmenton on Wednesday informed the Rajya Sabha that 27 accused persons had been deported to India so far from abroad and 111 more were arrested or located after Interpol red corner notices (RCNs) were issued. Informing this Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home G Kishan Reddy said the RCN was issued by Interpol and was meant to facilitate quick location and arrest of a person abroad and providing the information to the national agency or authority on whose request the notice was issued. ‘Efforts on to keep peace with China on LAC’

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said India and China were respecting bilateral pacts to ensure peace and tranquility on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Singh also told the Lok Sabha in response to Congress’ Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary’s question regarding recent reports of tension in the Demchok sector. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping had a summit meeting at Wuhan where it was decided that peace and tranquility would be maintained on the border. TNS
