Govt forced to annul Postal Services exam

The government on Tuesday was forced to annul Postal Services examination, which was conducted last week, due to protests by the Opposition parties led by Tamil-centric parties in Rajya Sabha against restriction on languages, including Tamil, to write the exam.

RS passes airport amendment Bill 

The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday passed an amendment Bill seeking change in the definition of a “major” airport, which will continue to be under the purview of the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India. The Bill, christened Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (Amendment) Bill, 2019, also seeks to enable the Civil Aviation Ministry to carry out its project to bid out airports to private parties on the basis of pre-determined tariff. These aerodrome will be the ones that will be left out of the purview of the AERA Act. TNS

‘126 ultras infiltrated in J&K neutralised’

The government told the Lok Sabha that 400 terrorists infiltrated into J&K in the past three years of which 126 have been neutralised by security forces. In a written reply, MoS for Home G Kishan Reddy said 27 security personnel were killed during the engagements with the infiltrators. Four terrorists have been arrested so far, he added. There were 143 incidents of infiltration in 2018, 136 in 2017 and the number was 119 in 2016, he said. TNS
