Based on a detailed NIA report on the activities of Popular Front of India (PFI), even though the government is contemplating banning the outfit, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) has informed the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) that the organisation is making efforts to expand its base beyond Kerala.

Sources in the MHA confirmed that the ministry was examining the NIA report, which is “telling and possible action could be initiated if the outfit crosses a threshold limit”. “Meanwhile, we have received a dossier from the IB suggesting the PFI is making attempts to expand in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Assam and West Bengal,” they said.
