After getting lukewarm response to the PM's Income Declaration Scheme (IDS) in Rajasthan, Income Tax department on Sunday organised a "run for nation building" in seven cities, including Jaipur, to create awareness regarding the scheme among black money holders and tax evaders.

In his ‘Mann Ki Baat address’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched IDS for tax evaders to help them deposit "undisclosed income" with Income Tax department by September 30 without any clarification or penalty.

The run was organised in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bikaner, Alwar, Kota and Ajmer at 6.30 am where senior I-T officers, youth and BSF jawans took part.

In Jaipur, 7,000 people, including those from business organisations like ICAI, FICCI, CII and Rajasthan Chambers of Commerce, jogged for 5 km. Runners were wearing shirts with slogans like: “I Pay My Tax, Do You” and “Bharo Tax, karo Relax”.

Principal chief commissioner of Income Tax KC Jain also participated in the run which began from Amar Jawan Jyoti and ended at Ramniwas Bagh.

BSF jawans were among 1,500 people who participated in the event at Jodhpur.
