New Delhi, August 23

Union Human Resource Minister Prakash Javadekar’s latest speech has invited ridicule for its “muddled up historical facts” when he “clubbed” leaders Subhas Chandra Bose, Sardar Patel and former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru with those who “were hanged” during India’s freedom movement.

In a clip of his speech at a public gathering in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara, the minister was heard saying: “Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Sardar Patel, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru… sabhi jo phase chade (all those who were hanged)…”

The minister claimed later that he was misquoted by the press in several tweets later on Tuesday. — Agencies
