Congress general secretary in charge of Himachal Pradesh Ambika Soni today said she had not offered any resignation to party chief Sonia Gandhi and had a year ago asked to be relieved of some of her official burden in the light of ill health.

Speaking to The Tribune today, 74-year-old Soni said she was handling three states as general secretary — Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand — and was unable to give time due to her health condition.

“Things stand where they were a year ago when after Uttarakhand polls I requested the leadership to reduce my responsibilities. That has not happened yet. If it happens it will be fine. I continue as general secretary till I am relieved. There is no question of resigning. Reports of my resignation are wrong,” she said.
