The Ram Mandir issue has once again moved to the centrestage. Pacifying saints in Ayodhya, CM Yogi Adityanath asked them to remain patient and not doubt the BJP’s intention on the issue.

Speaking at the Viraat Sant Sammelan to felicitate Ram Janambhoomi Nyas president Nritya Gopal Das on his 80th birthday in Ayodhya on Monday, Yogi said: “Maryada Purshottam Ram is Bramand ke Swami hain. Jab unki kripa hogi to Ayodhya mein Ram Mandir ban kar hee rahega. Ismey koi sandeh nahi hai. Toh phir santon ko issey lekar sandeh kahan se paida ho jata hai? Aapne itna dhairya rakha hai, mujhe lagta hai ki kuch din aur dhairya rakhna hoga. Ashawad par duniya tiki hui hai (Lord Ram is the ruler of the universe. When he wills a temple would surely be built in Ayodhya. There is no doubt about that. Then why do saints get suspicious about the temple being built? You have been patient for so long; I believe that you will have to be patient for some more time. The world depends on optimism).”

Earlier, former BJP MP and a key player in the temple movement, Ram Vilas Vedanti claimed that the construction of the Ram Mandir would begin before 2019 elections, or may be towards the end of 2018. He said the construction of the temple would begin irrespective of the SC decision.

Digambar Akhara head Mahant Suresh Das said now there could be no excuse for not building the Ram Mandir as there was a BJP government in both New Delhi and Lucknow with leaders like PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi in command. Yogi said an acceptable solution to the Ram temple issue had to be made in a Constitutional manner as the judiciary, legislature and the executive had their own well-defined roles.

Charging the Congress with a ‘double game’, Yogi said that on one hand they were delaying the temple solution as a senior party member (Kapil Sibal) had asked the court to postpone the hearing till after the Lok Sabha elections and on the other asked people what the BJP had done on its promise of a Ram mandir.

A cross section of saints had expressed their anger after Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi declared that the BJP would fight the 2019 election on the issue of development. A group of saints had met Yogi on June 7 where he reportedly assured them that a Ram mandir would be built in Ayodhya.

‘Why need permission?’

Temple construction will begin without any obstacle - just like the demolition of the masjid took place. When we did not need permission to demolish the masjid then why this permission for building a Ram Mandir? Ram Vilas Vedanti, Ex-BJP MP

‘Why suspicious?’
