Gurwinder ranks Ist in Punjab

City boy Gurwinder Singh Saini has created history by bagging the all-India third rank in the country and the first rank in the state in the CBSE class XII examination.

Namit Soni from the city has bagged the second spot in the state by bagging 98.6 per cent marks.

Both are students of the local DAV Public School. Gurwinder got 98.8 per cent (494 marks) in the examination, while Namit got 98.6 per cent (493 marks).

“Aisa Laga India ne World Cup Jeet Liya (it feels like India has won the World Cup),” said an elated Gurwinder. Gurwinder said he had no clue he would make it to the third spot in the country. “I had thought maybe I will be second in the school, but had never imagined a national rank in the wildest of my dreams,” he said.

“I never took tuitions. Tuitions meant I would have to stay awake all day and tire myself and I never compromised on my sleep. I just stayed regular all through my studies. I studied in the evening and slept during the days and unlike other students, I used to study more during the holidays to utilised the extra time.”

Haryana girl overall 3rd

Mahendragarh: Poonam Kumari of Surjanvaas village of Mahendragarh distirct has brought laurels to the district and the state by securing third position in the country in the CBSE XII exams.

Poonam, a student of Happy Evergreen Senior Secondary School in Mahendragarh city, has obtained 98.8% marks (494 out of 500) in the results declared today. Her father, Kanwar Singh, is serving as a JCO with the 97 Medium Regiment in Jammu and her mother, Bhateri Devi, is a house maker. “It is unbelievable. I never thought I would be among the top five candidates int he country. I still can’t believe I have stood third,” said Poonam, a student of non-medical stream.

Giving credit to her parents and teachers, she said her father, mother and teachers always motivated her to give her best in the examination.
