Rajpura, August 20

The Patiala police today arrested Gau Raksha Dal chief Satish Kumar a fortnight after he was booked for “sodomy, rioting, extortion and other charges”. Sources said the accused was on the run ever since he was booked under Section 377 of the IPC, which criminalises unnatural sex, after a youth from Saharanpur alleged he was abducted and sodomised by Satish’s goons.

“Now another Uttar Pradesh resident has told investigators that he was sodomised by Satish himself,” the  sources said, adding that the accused was arrested outside Punjab.

Rajinder Singh Sohal, Rajpura SP, said: “We have arrested Satish, who had beenabsconding since the past 10 days. We  can’t reveal more.”

The victim from Saharanpur had told a judicial magistrate that Satish, Bablu and 10-15 others had forcibly taken him to a cow shelter in Rajpura where he was sodomised. “Also, some goons urinated in my mouth,” he had alleged. Another victim told the police last week that he was detained by the self-styled cow vigilantes, robbed, tortured and sodomised by Satish.

Their activities unchecked, the Gau Raksha Dal would post videos online of  attacks on trucks “carrying cattle for slaughter”, showing drivers being thrashed and vehicles torched. An FIR was registered on August 6, two years after a video went viral.

The Gau Raksha Dal chief was then booked for abduction with intent to hurt, wrongful confinement and other Sections of the IPC.
