While the accused fled, Rathi’s family rushed him to a private hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries after six hours.

Rathi’s brother alleged that one of their villager—Lilu Dagar, now residing in Gurugram, got eliminated his brother with help of three others. An FIR has been registered at Bhondsi police station.

Rathi (42) had entered the crime world in 1999 and was in jail since 2014 serving life term. On July 6, he came out on bail from Faridabad’s Neemka jail, where he was imprisoned in connection with his wife’s murder.

Around 8 am today, Rathi along with his brother Mahesh alias Nishu and friend Mahesh Kumar were having tea together, when three assailants came there and opened fire after a brief talk.

“We did not suspect that they were carrying weapons. After talking for 10 minutes, they pulled out their guns and attacked my brother. They fled when our neighbour Naveen came there. The attack was pre-planned by Lilu Dagar who arranged these shooters to attack my brother,” Mahesh alias Nishu, brother of Rathi said in his complaint to police.

Soon after they rushed Rathi to Park hospital from where he was referred to Medanta and around 3.10 pm he died. Police said he got four bullet in his chest, hand, near the ear and back.
