Farmer, wife, two children found hanging in Jodhpur

JAIPUR: A farmer, his wife, their daughter and son were on Thursday found hanging from the ceiling of a tin shed Tanavarda-Phata area of Jodhpur city.

A farmer, his wife, their daughter and son were on Thursday found hanging from the ceiling of a tin shed Tanavarda-Phata area of Jodhpur city.

Their other son was sleeping in another room.

The deceased were identified as Karanaram, 45; Pushpa Devi, 40; Urmila, 9; and Suresh, 5; Jodhpur DCP West Sameer Kumar Singh said.

The farmer, who owned an agricultural field and a few cattle head, was facing health problems as he, his wife and daughter were reportedly ill, the DCP said, adding that it was yet to be ascertained whether he was facing any financial crisis. 

Their elder son, Vikram, 12, found the bodies hanging in a tin shed hall in the wee hours, and later villagers informed the Basani police station. Vikram was in shock, the DCP said. It was a case of mass suicide and Basni police station in-charge would probe it, he said. 

The bodies were sent for post-mortem.
