New Delhi, March 10

As the suspense of whom the voter entrusts governance of five states nears an end, the Election Commission set up a robust, foolproof and secured infrastructure facility for disseminating trends and results.

Starting at 8 am on Saturday through its popular website www.eciresults.nic.in the ECI will show trends update continuously.

The IT solution captures a number of votes secured by the candidates contested in elections round-wise and after compilation shows Assembly constituency wise, political party wise and candidate wise trends, an ECI statement said.

The website has a track record of a very large number of hits ranging from 36 million to 16 billion in a day in the past, when trends were being disseminated.

The website can also be accessed through www.eci.nic.in website, which is main official website of the Election Commission of India.

As a proof of concept, the ECI is presenting some interactive dashboards, for the first time, for public use which will comprise both data and analysis in its official website (www.eci.nic.in) on March 12.

The analysis will be presented in user-friendly, clickable infographics which may be of immense interest to all stakeholders.

The users can download data, crosstab, PDF and images for analysing the elections further at their end. It will include comparative analytics between 2012 and 2017.

The users will get constituency analysis with respect to participation of electors (constituencies with more female electors, constituencies by slabs of voter turnout, turnout by poll days) and candidates (gender-wise participants, winners and major competitors).

To assess performance of political parties, analysis on seats won by them, the percentage vote-share in the state and the profile (age and social category) of candidates fielded by them have been included. Candidates have been mapped to their constituencies and the votes polled in their favour.
