Deputy Drug Controller in CBI net for graft

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Health has suspended Deputy Drug Controller Naresh Sharma after the Central Bureau of Investigation arrested him for corruption.

The Ministry of Health has suspended Deputy Drug Controller Naresh Sharma after the Central Bureau of Investigation arrested him for corruption.

The ministry on Sunday warned all officers against indulging in corruption reiterating the Central Government’s policy of zero tolerance to corruption.

The ministry said the CBI had arrested Dr Naresh Sharma, Deputy Drug Controller at the Central Drug Standards Control Organisation (CDSCO) after “trapping” him.

“The CBI has informed that Naresh Sharma was trapped and taken into custody by them on August 16 and legal investigation under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been initiated. Accordingly Dr Naresh Sharma has been suspended with immediate effect,” the ministry said.
