Girls outperformed boys in the CBSE Class XII results declared here today, posting a pass percentage of 87.56 as against 77.77% posted by boys.

In fact, the average results posted by girls raised the overall pass percentage of CBSE Class XII results to 82 per cent — marginally lesser as compared to the overall pass percentage of 82.7 last year. In all, 10,40,368 students appeared for the exam which was held on May 2. This is an increase of 1.2% applicants over the last year.

Delhi girl M Gayatri of New Green Field School, Saket, leads the list with 496 marks out of 500. There’s good news for the northern region as among the top seven are two from the Panchkula CBSE region — Poonam Kumari (494) of Happy Evergreen Senior Secondary School, Mahendragarh, Haryana, and Gurwinder Singh Saini (494) of Police DAV Public School Jalandhar Cantt, Punjab. Poonam and Gurwinder are bracketed at position five alongside S Nishok Kumar of Chennai region who also scored 494.

The second, third and fourth positions have gone to Dehradun region’s Mythili Mishra (495) of Amity International School, Noida; Trivandrum region’s B Arjun (495) of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Trivandrum,  and Delhi region’s Saurabh Bhambri (495) of KRM World School, S Block, Greater Kailash, New Delhi. Mythili, second highest scorer, and Saurabh have humanities stream.
