Relatives of murdered engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla on Friday blamed US President Donald Trump for the “hate” crime in Kansas.

“This certainly shows that Trump is the primary reason as of now. Most of my relatives are in the US for the past 20 years, but never have they encountered any such thing. This is first incident of hate crime experienced by our family…and to what extent… a young life has been lost,” said Shastri, Srinivas’s brother.

Shastri said the only thing they wanted from the government was to handover Srinivas’s body at the earliest.

“(Foreign Minister) Sushma Swaraj called me in the morning and local BJP team has been in touch with me. They have said they will be supporting us along with the Telangana Government,” he said. Srinivas and his wounded colleague Alok Madasani were engineers at GPS maker Garmin International. “We’re saddened that two Garmin associates were involved in last night’s incident, and we express our condolences to the family and friends of our co-workers involved. Garmin will have grievance counsellors on-site and available for its associates today and tomorrow,” said a statement released by Garmin International.

A witness has claimed Purtinton yelled ‘get out of my country’ and also heard him screaming racial slurs before opening fire. — Agencies
