The Congress on Thursday pressed for recall of Karnataka Governor by citing a similar old request then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi made through a tweet on May 19, 2011.

Citing the old Modi tweet, which said, “The Governor of Karnataka is bent upon destroying India’s federal structure. Urged PM to request President to recall him. We agree, the Congress wrote on its official twitter handle after posting the Modi tweet.

The Congress had on Wednesday accused Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala of trampling on the constitution by inviting BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa to form the Government in the state even when the BJP has only 104 MLAs short of the majority in an assembly with the effective strength of 222.

The Congress tweet came after party president Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP this morning. Earlier, on the Supreme Court revised to interfere with Karnataka governor’s order inviting the BJP for government formation. The SC order came on a plea that the Congress and JD-S have the first right at Government formation as they have 117 MLAs.

On Wednesday, Congress media head Randeep Surjewala had said the Karnataka Governor has shamed his office and must quit his post.
