Gujarat Congress leader and AICC spokeperson Shaktisinh Gohil, who is in-charge of Bihar, has threatened to file a criminal case against Chief Minister Vijay Rupani for blaming him for the recent attacks on migrant labourers in the state, leading to their exodus.

Rupani, on a visit to Lucknow yesterday, had said the Congress and party’s Bihar in-charge were responsible for inciting people to attack migrant workers.

Accusing the BJP of spreading hatred, Gohil said contrary to Rupani’s allegations, it was BJP supporters who were found inciting people to attack those from North India.

Sharing social media profiles of some BJP activists, Gohil referred to a video clip of the BJP legislator from Himmatnagar, the epicentre of attacks on migrant labourers, exhorting people to “drive out” non-Gujaratis from the state. “It is shameful that a day after the gruesome rape, BJP MLA from Himmatnagar Rajendra Chavda spoke to people and exhorted BJP workers to drive away North Indians,” Gohil added.

Gohil pointed out that he was in Bihar when the attacks started against the migrant workers. He had immediately issued statements urging people for calm, he claimed.
