CJI recommends Justice Misra as his successor

NEW DELHI:Setting the ball rolling for the appointment of the next Chief Justice of India, current incumbent JS Khehar has named Justice Dipak Misra as his successor, a senior functionary said tonight.

Setting the ball rolling for the appointment of the next Chief Justice of India, current incumbent JS Khehar has named Justice Dipak Misra as his successor, a senior functionary said tonight.

Under the procedure, the Law Minister writes to the CJI seeking his recommendation for successor. The CJI, in his reply, has recommended Justice Misra for the post. Justice Khehar retires on August 27. Justice Misra (63) is the senior-most judge of the SC after Justice Khehar. — PTI
