Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has demanded that the rejuvenated Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre bring in an ordinance to pave the way for the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Arriving in Ayodhya on Sunday along with son and Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray and 18 party MPs for thanksgiving prayers at the makeshift Ram Temple, Uddhav brought back the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on the national agenda on the eve of the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha.

“We have a strong government at the Centre under Modi ji. The government must bring in an ordinance for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya,” he said.

He said he had come to Ayodhya before the commencement of the Lok Sabha session to seek the blessings of Lord Ram.

“It was due to the blessings of Lord Ram that the Shiv Sena has performed so well in the Lok Sabha elections. If need be the party would resort to an agitation to press for the construction of the temple,” he said.

Thackeray assured the saints of Ayodhya that their demand of a Ram temple would soon be fulfilled as according to him Hindus across the world wanted a Ram temple in Ayodhya.

During his November 2018 visit to Ayodhya to put pressure on the BJP government for the Ram temple, Thackeray had raised the slogan ‘Pahle mandir, phir sarkar’ (First temple, then government).
